Mr. Gaines-Cooper lives in the Seychelles, a place he first visited in 1973. He "immediately fell in love with the Seychelles and wanted to make his permanent home there." In 1975, Mr. Gaines-Cooper purchased a home in the Seychelles called Plantation Bois Noir. It's where the family pets live, houses some of his favourite antiques, and is the place where Mr. Gaines-Cooper wishes his own ashes to be scattered. He established a plastics factory in the Seychelles that today manufactures and assembles medical equipment and brings much-needed foreign exchange to the country.
